Nordic four-leaf clover with Tromsø City Orchestra
In the concert «Nordic four-leaf clover», the Tromsø City Orchestra presents musical highlights from the four Nordic countries. Norway is represented by Harald Sæverud’s “Kjempeviseslåtten”, one of the most played orchestral works in Norwegian music. From Finland we play “Andante festivo” by the Finns’ greatest composer: Jean Sibelius. Denmark’s representative is Niels W. Gade. Gade was a leading composer and conductor in Europe in the 19th century, who in Norway is best known for having encouraged Edvard Grieg to write symphonic music. We play Gade’s 4th Symphony in B major. Sweden is represented at Lars-Erik Larsson’s saxophone concerto, where Lars Lien is soloist. Tromsø City Orchestra is led by Maria Medby Tollefsen.
