DATO: 8. December 2017 kl. 20:00–21:15
STED: The Arctic cathedral
Christmas concert with the saxophonist Ola Asdahl Rokkones and the organist Terje Baugerød. Rokkones is one of Norway’s leading saxophonists, and one of few saxophonists working both within classical music and jazz. Baugerød works as an organist in Ris Church (Oslo), but is also a composer and a freelance musician.
In December the saxophonist the two musicians start their concert tour in conjunction with the launch of their new CD “In this sweet Christmas season”. During the tour, they also visit Skien, Oslo and Trondheim before they go to Russia. The music consists of new and old Christmas songs with perhaps unexpected twists. The two improvising musicians create a muted landscape where folk music and jazz meet both famous and unknown Christmas songs. Rokkones and Baugerød alternate the sound potential in the church room and the dynamic range of organ and saxophone combination. Those who would like to check out the music can find the album “In this sweet Christmas time” on all digital platforms. CD can be ordered directly from the musicians by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or purchasing at the concerts. The recording was done in Ris church (Oslo), where Terje Baugerød is an organist. Both Ola and Terje are musicians working in different musical genres – from classical to jazz, pop and folk music from a variety of cultures. Ola Asdahl Rokkones is raised in Oslo and is living in Tromsø. He maintains a high level of performances in both classical and jazz. Terje Baugerød was born in Porsgrunn. He is active as producer, composer / organizer and musician, mainly through his production and record company TerjeB Production.
