The British organist and conductor Martin Baker has joined the Choir ensemble “Vokal nord” (Vocal North) for this concert with English church music from Baroque to modern times. The music has a wide range. We perform works by contemporary composer John Tavener, who wrote meditative, minimalist music with roots in the British choir tradition. The sublime is something beyond our comprehension! Performing musicians: Martin-Baker is an organist in Westminster Cathedral in London. He is one of the leading choir directors in England, and is also known to be an excellent organ soloist! When the newly restored organ in the cathedral was to be dedicated on 17 May 2014, Baker was chosen  to hold a concert. Vokal Nord is one of the finest vocal ensembles. The members come from across the region, and every one of them maintains a high musical level. Since its inception in 1997, the ensemble has chosen to specialize in Nordic a cappella contemporary music with a background in ethnic music and text basis from northern regions, as well as European early music, especially baroque. The choir unites a classic cork long with new sounds sourced from multiple genres. Artistic director is Bjørn Andor Drage, who also will participate as conductor and organist at this concert.
