 “Eroica” by Beethoven in The Arctic cathedral

At this year’s spring concert we will play 3rd symphony “Eroica” by the old master Ludwig van Beethoven. The symphony was originally dedicated to Napoleon, but when he crowned himself emperor Beethoven tore the dedication apart in anger. The symphony is demanding, but a great challenge for the orchestra.

The orchestra’s brass group will together with percussion perform the wonderful “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland. This is a wonderful and demanding music.

A piece that perhaps is less well known, is Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Norfolk Rhapsody no 1”, a beautiful piece of based on on English folk music from Norfolk.
