Organ recitals

Since the arrival of the cathedral's new organ, we offer daily organ recitals in the period from June 1 to July 31. The recitals begin at 2pm and last 25 minutes. In the summer of 2011, the following organists are playing:

Linde Mothes

Linde Mothes is educated as a church musician in Germany (Dresden, Weimar) and France (Paris). She has worked as a church musician in Berlin and as a university college lecturer in organ and choral conducting in Halle and Dresden.
She appreciates the diversity the profession of church musician offers and she has played many organ recitals in Europe and China. She has also worked as a choral conductor and has performed a host of choral concerts, both a cappella and oratorio.
She has been cantor at the Arctic Cathedral since 2008.

Tonje Braaten

Tonje Braaten has a Master’s degree in musical performance from the University of Tromsø, Music Conservatory. She is also a scientist and works in both professions

Kristian Paulsen

Kristian Paulsen works as cantor at the Arctic Cathedral and is responsible for the concert activities. He is educated at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø, Piteå School of Music and Kirkelig utdanningssenter i Nord. As a performer he has contributed to countless concerts both within Norway and abroad. He also works as a composer.

Kilian Nauhaus

Kilian Nauhaus is educated as a church musician at the University of Church Music in Halle (Germany). He has worked as cantor at Franzöischer Dom in downtown Berlin since 1987. He is known as a concert organist in several countries, has recorded several albums and has also played for radio and TV.

Adriano Falcioni

Adriano Falcioni was born in Terni, Italy. He took his concert diploma in organ at the University of Music in Freiburg (Germany) with Klemens Schnorr. He has also completed organ studies in Paris with Marie Claire Alain and in London with Nicolas Kynaston.
He has received many awards and holds a large number of concerts worldwide.
He is now the head organist at St. Lorenz Cathedral i Perugia and in Orte, home to one of Italy’s most important historical organs, which dates from 1582.

Hijoo Moon

Hijoo Moon is educated at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (South Korea), the University of Music in Freiburg (Germany) and the State Conservatory in Utrecht (Netherlands).
Hijoo Moon has been acting cathedral cantor at the Tromsø Cathedral since 2008.

Matthias Anger

Matthias Anger is employed as cantor in Kongsberg. He has studied church music in Berlin and piano in Tromsø. Today’s programme ranges from Buxtehude and Scheidt to Duprè and Nystedt.

Nikolas Fehr

Nikolas Fehr originates from Canada and USA. He is educated as an accordionist and jazz musician. However, he has discovered the organ and studied this too. He has a Master’s degree in organ, is writing his doctoral thesis at McGill University in Montreal and is currently studying the organ with Hans Ola Ericsson at the Piteå School of Music.

Iona Fehr

Iona Fehr (b.1981) has degrees in organ, church music and musicology from Romania and Germany. She came to Northern Sweden in 2009 to study with Hans-Ola Ericsson and completed her studies in Piteå this spring. She is now planning a career as an organist in Scandinavia.

Magnus Asplund

Magnus Asplund (b..1984) is educated at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø and the School of Music in Piteå. He plays works by Bach, Schumann and Nystedt, among others.

Emanuele Cardi

Emanuele Cardi is an organist and choral conductor of the Ghilardi organ (1996) and Carli organ (2004) at the Church of Santa Maria della Speranza in Battipaglia, Italy. She has played concerts in many parts of the world and has also recorded albums for several record labels.

Gianfranco Nicoletti

Gianfranco Nicoletti studied piano and organ and received his diplomas from “V. Bellini” Conservatory in Palermo. He has since participated in many specialisation courses run by famous musicians including A. Heiller, L. Celeghin, A. Sacchetti, H. Vogel and L.F. Tagliavini. He is an organ teacher at “A. Corelli” Conservatory in Messina.

Maria Maksimova

Maria Maksimova is born and bred in Russia. She has studied eurythmy dance in Oslo at the University College of Eurythmy in Oslo (eurythmy dance is often called “visible song” and aims to make music more visual). She is employed as a eurythmy teacher at the Steiner School in Tromsø.

Marianne von Einsiedel

Marianne von Einsiedel studied church music in Eisenach and Weimar. She also worked for some years as a cellist in the Saalfeld Symphony Orchestra. She has been cantor in Dresden and now works as organist and docent in organ at the University of Church Music in Dresden. She plays concerts in Germany and other parts of Europe.
